The Young Lecturer leading the Blueprint in Sierra Leone
In Makeni, Shebora Samba Kamara moves between the classroom, the radio studio and a growing political movement with the same steady focus.

On a typical afternoon at the University of Makeni, Shebora Samba Kamara finishes a lecture on political communication and walks straight into another role. Students linger with questions. A message arrives about the next broadcast on UniMak Live TV. Later there may be a meeting of The Blueprint Movement or a call connected to his work with the Old Makeni Franciscans Association. The day rarely separates teaching from public engagement.
Kamara, a Sierra Leonean academic, media professional and emerging political figure from the North, has built a public life that connects education, communication and civic leadership. He lectures in Mass Communication and Political Science & International Relations at UniMak, serves as the university’s Public Relations Officer, and previously managed Voice of Wusum Radio 88.5 FM. As Managing Director of UniMak Live TV he helps shape institutional broadcasting and practical training for students. Beyond the campus he leads The Blueprint Movement, a socio-political initiative focused on leadership, research, civic awareness and a progressive vision for Sierra Leone.
His path began in Makeni. He attended Church of God of Prophecy Primary School and Saint Francis Secondary School before university. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from UniMak, a Master of Laws in International Relations from the School of International and Public Affairs at Jilin University in China, and recently completed an LLB at UniMak. Additional certificates from institutions in Italy, the Netherlands, China and Sierra Leone have widened his grounding in communication, diplomacy and public affairs.
The work extends past formal titles. Kamara participates in school leadership training for principals, senior teachers and heads of department in Bombali District. He teaches free classes on global issues at the Makeni correctional centre for both inmates and officers. As Secretary General and administrative head of the Old Makeni Franciscans Association worldwide, he helps coordinate an alumni network with roots in his secondary school. Through The Blueprint Movement he emphasises political engagement that young people can understand and join, arguing for clear steps that others can reference and adapt.
Recognition has followed the steady output. He was named Lecturer of the Year at the 2025 Bombali All Walks of Life Awards and has been described as one of the most influential young politicians in Northern Sierra Leone. He currently holds an honorary executive membership in the All People’s Congress (APC) and is widely viewed as a strong contender for the mayoral seat of Makeni Municipality.
What holds the different roles together is a consistent belief that education, clear communication and organised civic effort can change outcomes. Kamara’s days still move between the lecture hall, the studio and the movement meetings. The through-line remains the same: equip young people, strengthen institutions, and keep the conversation about Sierra Leone’s future practical and open.
