Privacy notice

We collect as little information as we can, and we explain all of it here in plain language.

Reading our journalism

You do not need an account to read SLRiseHub Media. We do not use advertising trackers or social media tracking pixels, and we do not set cookies for readers.

To understand which pages are read, we use Vercel Web Analytics, provided by our hosting company. It counts page views without cookies and without identifying you: it records the page, the referring website, and your browser, operating system and country, and it does not track you across other websites.

Like every website, our hosting provider records basic technical information when pages are requested (such as IP address, browser type and time) in server logs, which are used to keep the service running and secure and are retained for a limited period.

To show which stories are most read, each story page adds one to a daily count for that story. The count is a single number per story per day; it is not linked to you, your device or your address, and no cookie is used.

If you use “Save for later”, the list of saved stories is kept in your own browser's storage. It is never sent to us.

To protect our search and signup forms from abuse we count requests over short periods. These counters store only a one-way, non-reversible fingerprint of your network address, not the address itself.

Comments

If you comment on a story, we store your comment, the name you choose to show, and the time. If you give an email address, we keep only a one-way fingerprint of it (to recognise repeated abuse), never the address itself, and we never publish or email it. Comments are read by a moderator before they appear. Rejected and removed comments are deleted after 90 days.

Tips

If you send us a tip, we store only what you write in the form: your message and, if you choose, how to reach you. Both are encrypted. We do not store your IP address or browser details with a tip. Only senior editors can read tips, every reading is logged, and tips are deleted automatically after 180 days.

The newsletter

If you sign up, we store your email address, the fact and time of your consent, where you signed up (for example, the footer), and whether you confirmed and when. We send a confirmation email first; you will not receive the newsletter unless you confirm.

We use this information only to send the newsletter. Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. Unconfirmed signups are deleted after 30 days. Subscriber lists are visible only to the editors responsible for the newsletter and are never sold or shared for others' marketing.

Emails are delivered by a specialist email provider acting on our behalf.

Embedded media

Some stories include videos hosted by YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you choose to play a video, and we use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. Once you press play, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.

Sharing buttons

Our share buttons are plain links. Nothing is sent to WhatsApp, Facebook or X unless you choose to share.

People we write about

Profiles are published only after editorial review and, for People profiles, recorded consent. We do not publish private contact details. If you are the subject of a story and believe information about you is inaccurate, contact us.

Newsroom accounts

Staff accounts use a session cookie that is necessary for signing in to the newsroom. Newsroom activity is logged for security and editorial accountability.

Your choices and questions

You can ask us what newsletter information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us and we will respond.
