Send us a tip

Know something we should look into? Tell our editors. You don't have to give your name.

Before you write

  • If sharing this could put you at risk, use a personal phone or computer and a network your employer doesn't control.
  • We don't store your IP address with your tip, and this page sets no cookies. Tips are encrypted, only senior editors can read them, and they are deleted after 180 days.
  • Like every website, our hosting provider's logs may briefly record that your connection visited this site, and to stop abuse we keep a one-way fingerprint of it for up to two days, never linked to your tip. If that matters for your safety, use public Wi-Fi or ask someone you trust to send it.
  • We can't promise anonymity if only a few people could know what you tell us. Think about what the details reveal.
  • We check everything before publishing. A tip is the start of reporting, not a story in itself.

A district or town is enough. Never give exact addresses.

Leave blank to stay anonymous. We then can't reply or ask follow-up questions. Never send passwords or documents that could identify you unless you are sure it is safe.
